The best summer print outfits for 2017 featured on lifestyle blog 45 Fairmount by Monica Woodhams

I’m not gonna lie, I’m a solid outfit kind of girl. BUT there’s something about warm weather and summertime that makes me want to branch out away from my solid grays and blacks and reach for the print outfits.

There are four print outfit trends that I’ve been really eyeing this summer and feeling like my summer wardrobe won’t be complete without them!

Palms, Stripes, Gingham and Floral.

Some of these are a surprising option for me (like gingham and floral). Stripes, however, are something that I’ve always felt pretty good about wearing no matter the time of year.

Scroll down below for my fave summer print outfits and why I’m gravitating towards each one!

PALM

Palm print is having a moment. And I am totally on board with it. There are tea shops with palm print walls, boutiques with palm print decor, every item in the world you can find with a palm print on it right now. And you know what? I’m just as obsessed with it. For me, palms give me such a sense of ease, probably because I associate them with warm weather and vacation. Even when I lived in LA though, I could be having the worst day, but seeing palm trees off the side of the highway would make me take a deep breath and I’d feel a little better.

FLORAL

Floral is a surprising choice for me because I generally can’t stand floral prints. I think one of the reasons why I’m more on board with them this year than I ever have been being because most of the floral print clothing items are larger prints rather than teenie tiny flowers.

I’ve always believed that Joie NAILS it when it comes to floral prints. The color combos and design are SO spot on.

One of the first summer purchases I made this year is actually a yellow floral dress. This yellow dress is under $100 but it looks so much more expensive in person in my opinion. Check it out here in an Instagram post I posted a few days ago.

Also, this yellow print also comes in pants, jumpsuit, and halter top.

STRIPE

I love the sophistication and timelessness of stripes. I especially love them in the summer because they’re thin and subtle.

The vertical stripes this year are a bonus as they’re the most flattering type of stripes. I’m especially eyeing some pants because being 5′ 1″, they’ll really elongate my legs.

My favorite stripes this year are the white and blue ones and bonus points if they’re on linen fabric!

I’m also obsessed with this green two piece combo.

GINGHAM

Gingham is another one of those surprise patterns for me. I go through phases with gingham. I own the typical J.Crew gingham button down.

Here and there, I’ve bought gingham styles throughout my life but I never really was excited about it or gravitated to it. Usually it depended on how preppy my style was at that point.

I totally went for it though this summer when I found this off the shoulder top on sale at Madewell. I bought it because I needed a shirt with light fabric to wear to an outdoor event, and this one fit the bill. I’ve paired this with denim shorts and jeans. If I could just now find my white jeans, I would LOVE to wear it with them.
