I was working on my Road to Quarter-Life Miracles course tonight and while writing about the gratitude section, I got to thinking about that moment when I realized that I no longer had to feel like I had to wait until later in life to pursue my dreams and be truly happy. It has definitely been the combination of different events and people that have led to me to where I am today, but there is a day in particular where I felt a sense of positivity and energy that I hadn’t felt in what felt like a very long time.
So as you know, one of the things that initially helped bring me out of my quarter-life crisis was fashion blogging. The blogging community was so inspiring and I truly started to believe that there was no reason why I should be waiting to create the life I want to live. So, when I attended my first in person blogger event, hosted by the Bloguettes, this sense of community and positive energy was multiplied by a million.
I discovered the Bloguettes through one of my favorite bloggers, Lauryn, of The Skinny Confidential. She was going to be partnering with the Bloguettes in San Diego and they were running a giveaway for tickets so I was like, hey why not enter. Then I started to look into the Bloguettes and was like this is really cool and now I really want to go even if I don’t win a free ticket. So I splurged on the workshop ticket AND a ticket to San Diego, because I felt like I needed to go so badly. Looking back, I now know why I felt such a strong pull to go and how I made it work no matter what.
A few days before the workshop, Lauryn no longer could attend (I forgive you Lauryn, I still want to be BFFs) but I was still off to San Diego to see what this blogging workshop, which was the most that I had ever paid for an event, was all about.
Within moments of being there I knew I was exactly where I needed to be. There was something so inspiring about being in a room with other twentysomethings who had similar dreams and aspirations as me. They weren’t afraid to steer away from the unconventional career path and I was so excited to be around them. And while I love online communities (it’s so so amazing how we can connect and become friends in an instant no matter where in the world we are) nothing compares to meeting people in person.
My biggest takeaway from the workshop is something that I will forever be thankful to the Bloguettes for. I realized that I didn’t have to wait until later in life to pursue my dreams. I didn’t have to be jealous of other people’s success, I was free of it and instead, inspired because that success is there for me too. I don’t have to wait to live the life I love. I’m creating it now.
