The new year is only two days away and I can’t help but think about which outfits of 2014 were my favorite. I have got to say that I’m ending the year with one of my favorites! Over the past few months I have been trying to figure out how to wear a midi skirt. I love the look, but have been nervous to try it because I thought the length would be unforgiving to someone who is 5’1”.
I had been eyeing this Amanda skirt for a few months, but couldn’t quite commit. When it finally went on sale at Cusp, I decided it was time to just go for it. What interested me in this skirt was the sheer panelling. It made the black skirt a bit less serious. To play on this, I decided to pair it with a tee. A few weeks ago I posted about wearing a tee with a leather skirt. The same theory applies to deciding on how to wear a midi skirt. I am so obsessed with this Baldwin KC LA tee. I was home for Thanksgiving and went into the Baldwin store with my mom. She found it hanging and when she showed it to me I couldn’t control my excitement! If you’re not familiar with Baldwin, it’s primarily a denim brand created in Kansas City. They’ve been growing quickly and least year they even collaborated with Gap. They’re most popular item is probably the wool KC hat.
3 things to keep in mind deciding on how to wear a midi skirt:
1. Make it playful by wearing it with a tee
2. Wear it with strappy heels to keep it flattering and feminine
3. Accessorize – a black midi skirt is a great base and accessories will give it that extra oomph it needs.
